New Crowdsourced Stuff of the Week

You may have noticed, but the ZXH Creative site is still kind of in Discovery mode until I get the podcast and projects underway. But last week I posted a few crowdsource projects from other people because I thought they were interesting. Partly just to start pushing content to the site while I get things set up for the podcast and don’t have a lot of time to write. But I like the idea of it, so I think it’s going to be a weekly thing. If nothing else, it’s my small way of giving things I think are cool a little bump, and while I’m not planning doing the crowdsource thing right now, you never know right? So on some level it’s a karma, pay-it-forward kind of thing.

I mean pitching stuff to the internet is like talking at a rock-concert sometimes. I figure if I don’t do any small thing I can do to help other people trying to put out stuff that I think is cool so they can keep doing what they’re doing, then I’d be a hypocrite to expect anyone to do the same for me. That makes sense right? I hope so. Anyway so that said here’s this week’s neat stuff you might want to chip in on starting with …

The Drag Queens & Covered Bridges of New Hampshire by Andre Rosa — Kickstarter. Look, I realize that this idea isn’t for everyone for all sorts of reasons, but just think about this. I am a huge fan of juxtapositions of opposites, so the combination of those rustic, picturesque backdrops with the over-the-top drag fashion … it’s like if Norman Rockwell had a wild side. Good stuff.

Bootsy Collins to bring Unity to commUnity with #iGiveAFunk by Bootsy Collins — Kickstarter. Because Bootsy Collins. I don’t think that requires additional explanation. Besides, 10 unreleased Bootsy tracks for $5? How the funk do you pass that up?

SHADOW | Community of Dreamers by hunter lee soik — Kickstarter. “If we’re successful with this project we’ll forever change the course of human history.” … well there you have it. I’m not big on dream interpretation or that unlocking the power of the subconscious mind guff, but this is a genuinely interesting idea that could produce some strange and unexpected results.

Nomad Cable – Micro USB by Kegan & Roberto — Kickstarter. This one is just handy and frankly you’d think someone would have thought of it sooner.

That’s it for this week! Check back next Thursday for more.

UPDATE!:

Microduino: Arduino in your pocket, small, stackable, smart by Microduino Studio — Kickstarter. 1″ x 1″ ARDUINOS! Ok, maybe you’ve never heard of arduinos. They’re an open source prototyping platform (read: things geeks use to build robots and stuff). And they are awesome, and now they’re smaller and that is HUGE! These little guys, some servos and a 3-d printer … you can do anything. You think Disney Infinite is the bomb? Learn some code and make the whole world your sandbox. Awesome project and you still have a month to get in on it.
